Water flooding is an effective way for oilfield to improve the recovery. However, because of the reservoir heterogeneity, dominant channel of waterflooding is forming after a long-time water injection. In turn, the dominant seepage flow makes the injected water futile cycling. Most of the injected water passes through the dominant seepage unit and cannot effectively spread the low permeability layer, which reduces the water flooding recovery seriously. In order to solve the problem of water channeling during the waterflooding process, a new method, vector well pattern is put forward to control the dominant seepage flow unit, and the proper well space in different permeability direction is confirmed. Meanwhile, the effect of vector well pattern in different transforming time is compared. The results show, in anisotropic formation, the ratio of vector well space is equal to the square root of the ratio of the permeability, and it should be conducted earlier that vector well pattern controls the dominant seepage flow, which makes a better effect. The application of vector well pattern has an important guiding significance for well pattern adjustment in the high water cut reservoir.
