A survey on classification of network structure routing protocols in wireless sensor networks

摘要

Wireless sensor network (WSN) is an accumulation of thousand of sensor nodes with the capabilities of sensing different types of environment and physical conditions, information handling and wireless transmission. However, WSN require powerful techniques for handling data transmission and processing. Sensor nodes in WSN have a limited communication range, and their storage and processing capabilities as well as their power resources are also limited. The state-of-the-art routing protocols in WSNs are classified with the two major divisions viz., network structure and protocol operations. This paper provides cursory look on network structure routing protocols classifications and its characteristics. The classified network structure routing protocols are compared with some of the performance measures viz., application type, power consumption, scalability, protocol complexity, localization, position awareness. The paper concludes with possible future work in routing protocols.
