Taiwan first large-scale wind turbine testing site currently is under planning, designed and constructed. In order to comply with the testing requirements that indicated in technical standards or grid codes, the wind turbine on the site is always needed to connect to the electric power network for interconnection support. However, to avoid the severe affects and cause the power quality problems on the established electric power network, when the wind turbine is connected, it is necessary to perform various system impact analysis and computing on power flows, voltage fluctuation, fault current, and flicker/harmonics etc. during the system planning phase of the wind turbine testing site. For this purpose, the paper is aim to present a study of system impact assessment on the mentioned large-scale wind turbine testing site. The geography location and system structure of the testing site is illustrated first, then the requirements of the grid code are discussed, and a case study that separately connects different types of wind turbines to the established electric power network is used to calculate and simulate the system impacts. Finally, the results are expected to provide significant information to the project of planning the large-scale wind turbine testing site.
