Securing Provenance by Avoiding Packet drop attack due to Congestion in Wireless Sensor Network

Wireless Sensor Networks are used in many application domains, such as cyber-physical infrastructure systems, environmental monitoring, power grids, etc for transmitting data information. Decision-making process is performed when large data are transferred. Provenance is a mechanism of trust and reputation which helps to gather, share and store the information which may lead to privacy and security threats in wireless sensor network. As many source nodes contends to gain access to the network for transmitting data to the Base station (BS), packet loss attack may occur due to congestion. In this paper, we described a technique for detecting packet drop attack by incorporating the routing load information of every hop in their path by using PDAC (Packet Drop due to Attacker or Congestion) detection technique. Thereby, the effectiveness of provenance is secured by avoiding packet drop attacks.
