In recent years of digital world, a lot of interest has been emerged in the optical fiber. In this paper, we are modelling the spectral attenuation and central dip in refractive index profile parameters in an optical fiber. The feasibility and practicability of modeling and analysis of the spectral loss of an optical fiber is performed using an algorithm to a single multi-parameter equation. In that, each separate equation physically explains the mathematical models of all known long wavelength loss mechanism including the un-modeled excess loss. To calculate the excess loss, the multi-parameter equation fits the curve of wavelength (nm) versus spectral attenuation (dB/km) graph plot using the Levenberg-Marquardt regression analysis in MATLAB curve fitting toolbox. Later, the curve is fitted on the refractive index profile plot using mathematical models given and the parameters viz. refractive indices of core and clad, alpha, width and height of central dip, core boundary etc.
