摘要

A low power wireless network has been developed for peatland monitoring system. It overcomes the drawback of GSM technology that requires high power and impractical routine top-up every certain periods. The network has been implemented by means of ESP8266 transmitter based on Arduino microcontroller. Experiments conducted over the network shows that data is successfully transferred from one to other devices using backbone and mesh topology. It is much more practical and less expensive compared to the existing network that uses GSM communication modules. Further refinement of the system would be much beneficial for replacing existing peatland monitoring system which in turn overcoming seriously routine problems caused by peatland fire in critical areas in Indonesia.
