Comparative Analysis of Urban Infrastructure Modernization Development in China

Currently, the research for urban infrastructure modernization evaluation in China mainly focuses on the study of the city or the region, the sample size of which is small and it can't reflect the overall situation of our country. In addition, selecting one panel data as the data analysis section, the lack of longitudinal dynamic analysis of time series and some of the research only focus on one single country, lack of lateral international comparative analysis. Thus, in this paper, considering the above problems, we select the urban infrastructure of China as the research object and choose related index in 1978-2013 time series data analysis from the longitudinal angle, using combination weighting approach of analytic hierarchy process (AHP) and entropy value method to calculate the modernization of urban infrastructure development index in China. On the basis of the results, we analysis the laws and characteristics of modern urban infrastructure development since the beginning of the opening up policy and made a horizontal comparison with developed countries to find out the problems and shortcomings in the development of China. The results show that China's urban infrastructure development level has increased from 0.3379 in 1993 to 4.1156 in 2012; the modernization level of urban energy supply system and water supply and drainage system were relatively backward; the gap between China and developed countries was gradually narrowing on the whole, but there is a bigger challenge for the modern development of China.
