Open pore polyurethane (PU) foam was synthesized by Toluene diisocyanate (TDI) and polyethylene glycol (PEG, Mol. Wt. 1000g/mole). In this study, water was used as a blowing agent. The application potential of PU foam was investigated for removal of methylene blue dye (MB) (C16H18N3SC1) in aqueous system. The characterization studies were carried out by Fourier Transform Infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) and Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM). The R2 value and qm for Langmuir adsorption isotherm is 0.922 and 23.58 respectively. DR isotherm shows physical adsorption. Adsorption of MB on simple adsorbent follows pseudo second order reaction kinetics with co-relation co-efficient R^2=0.997. Thermodynamic studies showed that adsorption of MB on PU foam is feasible, spontaneous and enothermic as indicated by negative values of G, negative values of S and positive value of H.
