This work presented a design of an efficient wind energy collection device. This device can transform random wind energy into electrical energy by an effective vibration action of the piezoelectric film, which can supply the power for the low-power wireless sensor networks and so on. The static characteristics of rectangular, trapezoidal and triangular PVDF cantilever beams were analyzed by finite element method, and the results showed that the triangular piezoelectric cantilever beam had the optimal characteristics for the output voltage. The effects of the geometrical and material parameters on the output voltage of the piezoelectric beam were analyzed numerically. The relationship between the different wind speed and the output voltage was given for the design.
