Energy Detection Based Dynamic Spectrum Sensing for 2.4GHz ISM Band

In today's world, we rely on the wireless radio technologies for a wide range of services. However, wireless spectrum that delivers these technologies is a limited commodity, hence efficient spectrum utilization is an issue that has been inviting a lot of interest and research in recent times. Spectrum sensing is a key step towards efficient spectrum usage. Energy detection is a fast and simple method for spectrum sensing, but the sensing precision is limited by the dependency on a threshold value. This paper reports a novel real time detection based spectrum sensing technique using a logistic regression classifier for the 2.4 GHz ISM band. The implementation is done using USRP and GNU-Radio. Our proposed technique achieves a high success rate of over 95% for this band.
