Sub-terahertz transmission experiment for future wireless high speed data communication

摘要

As the demand for data consumption increasingly grows, the current wireless systems in microwave frequency region are not able to provide sufficient bandwidth for the future need of communication capacity. Therefore, the availability of vast bandwidth in terahertz (THz) and sub-THz (100 GHz - 10 THz) becomes a major advantage to exploit for wireless communication. In this paper, a transmission experiment setup at 220 GHz is proposed to fulfill channel modelling and propagation evaluation with regard to link budget and noise performance. For communication demonstration, amplitude shift keying (ASK) data signals up to 10 Gbit/s are transmitted with clear eye diagrams.
