Due to the increasing interests of using light weight, recyclable and cost efficient materials in electrical applications, thermoplastic materials have been widely investigated under demanding test conditions in recent years. In the previous work, a fast materials screening method on plate geometry were developed in-house, to study surface aging behavior of thermoplastic materials under multi-stress conditions [1-2]. In the present study, two types of modification on thermoplastic plate samples were evaluated with the screening method by applying 1) a surface coating and 2) a special additive. A significant increase of lifetime were observed only by using method 1. The correlation between plate sample test and electrical component test under IEC 60932 technical report of the external coating were also discussed.
