Modular Orbital Demonstration of an Evolvable Space Telescope (MODEST)

1. Larger than 12 meter aperture telescopes are needed to perform the next generation science missions 2. Current concepts for single launch observatories are limited to 9.2 meter maximum (Delta Ⅳ Heavy) even with deployable mirrors and structure 3. Larger Telescopes can be assembled on orbit from multiple launches 4. MODEST will demonstrate orbital optical assembly/alignment.
