Ontario Power Generation's (OPG) Security and Emergency Services mission centres on the concept of "Prepare, Respond and Recover". Security must meet this mandate at our 2 Nuclear stations: a 6 unit station in Pickering and a 4 unit station in Darlington, both in Ontario, Canada. Specifically, the Nuclear Security Training Program aligns with this mission statement by providing world class training that is analysed, designed, developed, implemented and evaluated using a Systematic Approach to Training (SAT). SAT is an approach adopted OPG wide that provides a logical progression from the identification of the tasks required to perform the job, to training implementation and finally the evaluation of training effectiveness. Essentially, the focus of the Nuclear Security Training Program is to ensure personnel are capable of preventing sabotage and/or theft of nuclear material. Therefore, Nuclear Security Officer (NSO) training needs to have sufficient flexibility to meet the ever changing threat environment.
