Examples of the estimation of the antenna gain in the millimeter wavebands

Loss evaluation is important in the link budget of the wireless system in the millimeter wavebands. In order to estimate the antenna gain reasonably, the loss factors of the antenna should be evaluated carefully. This report surveys the gains of the antennas, such as the standard horns, the waveguide slot arrays, the post-wall waveguide slot arrays and so on in the millimeter wavebands. As an example, the authors evaluate the loss factors of some typical kinds of antennas at 60 GHz. The estimated gains are plotted in different sizes.
