It is critically important on model-scale and on full-scale that consistent processes be applied when using acceleration data to investigate the effects of wave impacts or to validate computer-model simulations 2. Response mode decomposition should be the first step in analyzing, processing, and understanding acceleration data recorded during full-scale or model-scale investigations 2.1 FFT analysis of acceleration signal 2.2 Low-pass filtering to extract rigid body acceleration 3. Rigid body accelerations obtained through response mode decomposition can be used as a measure of the severity of the wave impact load in G-units in different communities of interest 3.1 Impulse severity is amplitude and duration 4. StandardG algorithm applies response mode decomposition and physics-based criteria for computing unambiguous rigid body A_(1/N) values.
