DEBRIS-INDUCED FRETTING FAILURE ANALYSIS

Since the commercial operation in 2001, YGN 5&6 has encountered the first fuel failures at each unit after the first new developed fuel PLUS7™ was introduced to both units. Two fuel failures were determined to come not from the design deficiency of the fuel or fabrication flaw but from the debris induced fretting. This paper discusses the analysis of the fuel failures in detail.
