Experiment Teaching of Remote Sensing Digital Image Processing with Visual C++ Programming

The Visual C++ platform was chosen for experiment teaching in course of Remote Sensing (RS) Digital Image Processing. Six specific tasks were designed, including reading RS image files in binary format, the conversion of digital number values to reflectance, image smoothing/sharpening in the spatial domain, image smoothing/sharpening in the frequency domain, principal component analysis-based RS image fusion, and per-pixel RS image classification. All of experiments were strongly related to lecture contents. In order to make sure that mostly students could finish experiments independently within a specified time period, an experimental guide was given to follow algorithm procedures and pseudo codes to write programs. The results of teaching practice indicate that experiments with Visual C++ programming can help students more easily understand theoretical knowledge points.
