Novel control method for capacitor voltage regulation in series APF

摘要

Recently use of non-linear loads are increased tremendously causing current and voltage distortions in power system. Series APF is effective for voltage harmonics mitigation. A Voltage Source Inverter (VSI) based Series APF is realized by maintaining constant DC link voltage. Most of the time, a DC link capacitor is used as energy source element. In traditional approach, an extra circuitry or energy source (battery) is required to charge the capacitor. In this paper, a novel control strategy is presented, which allows charging of capacitor without requiring extra circuitry or battery. The proposed approach is simulated using MatLab/Simulink. Simulation results validates proposed control strategy.
