The session members will present the following: 1. Dr. William R. Stockwell will discuss the issues related to introducing air quality education to minority students. 2. Dr. Ashok Kumar will discuss the challenges in evaluating the student learning outcomes for graduate programs. 3. Dr. Raghavan Ramanan will talk about ethics and associated challenges related to sustainability. 4. Mr. Hal Taback will discuss the development of ethics training programs. 5. Dr. Michael Kleinman will examine the challenges for introducing occupational, environmental and public health concepts into physical science and materials science engineering curricula. This panel session will cover a variety of topics related to challenges in delivering environmental education, training, and outreach related to topics of environmental education, sustainability, ethics, and engineering curriculum. Different case histories will be presented by the speakers to explain the current and future efforts in these areas. For example, sustainability is driving major shifts in the business world, changing the landscape for all companies, and leading to innovative business models, strategies and product design. Environmental professionals who understand these trends are finding new business opportunities. Another area is ethics. The unprecedented size and speed of global transactions, the world is poised for potential problems in many areas. Extreme greed, whether for money or nature's resources, has disastrous consequences. Corporate governance and the significance of building ethical cultures in organization in the context of the new business ambiance and social contract make effective ethics training crucial to overcome our inherent selfishness. Difficulties faced by educators in preparing information for assessing the graduate programs are important. 6. The session members will present the following: First speaker will discuss the introduction of air quality education to minority students. 6.1 Second speaker will talk about assessing the student leaning outcomes for the graduate programs. 6.2 Third speaker will talk about ethics and associated challenges. 6.3 Fourth speaker will discuss the development of ethics training. 6.4 Fifth speaker will examine the challenges the challenges for introducing occupational, environmental and public health into physical science and materials science engineering curricula. The chair of the session will moderate the discussion.
