In order to assess the environmental impact of two widely applied exterior wall external insulation materials with different fire rating (EPS board and rock wool board) objectively, this paper analyses the environmental impact of two materials using BEPAS system according to life cycle approach. Data was collected through unit process analysis, WTP (Willingness to Pay) value was obtained by means of collecting the life cycle emission inventory of two materials, after classification, characterization and weighting the data. The result of assessment shows that rock wool board possesses 1.5 times environmental impact of that of EPS board under the same thermal insulation properties. In conclusion, the EPS board is more strongly recommended to be used in terms of environmental impacts.
