BIM Application Implementation Plan and Roadmap in Cost Management of Electric Power Engineering

Currently, Building Information modeling (BIM) technology has got certain range of application in civil engineering construction for calculating and controlling the cost. Many related softwares have been developed. Because cost management of the electric power engineering has many characteristics, such as highly professional, large amount of investment, complex, mix professional structure and the like. BIM technology has not been used in the electric power engineering so far. The traditional method of hand computation and using Excel software can't meet the requirements of accuracy and efficiency of the electric power engineering cost. Applying BIM to manage the electric engineering cost has become an inevitable choice. This paper takes the substation as an example based on BIM platform and analysis the application implementation plan and the roadmap of using the existing BIM cost management software. This research will benefit the BIM promotion in the electric power construction industry.
