Scaffold stretch on day 0 shows that the strain force of the scaffold helped with DRG growth and directed growth while the DRG attaches to the scaffold surface. When looking at day 1 scaffold stretch, a different case is observed. The increased growth in the non-stretched shows that the strain exposed to the DRG after it had attached actually inhibited growth rather than enhance it. This may be due to stress caused by a large amount of scaffold strain. Even though, it is important to note that the day 1 stretch did result in more directed growth in the direction of the stretch showing that the direction of the scaffold stretch affects the direction of DRG growth. Further investigation of DRG growth with decreased values of strain on scaffold and varying days of stretch is proceeding.
