This paper outlines a situation that engineers must bear in mind with future trends on Smart Grids: self-healing and flow reversion under a fault occurrence. A study will be presented considering two large rural feeders, with voltage regulators (VRs) and distributed generation (DG). It will be demonstrated the effects caused by a VR, which is not designed for flow reversion and how DG may help to maintain the voltage level along the feeder at a suitable and stable levels in situations of grid reconfiguration.
