Reliability assessment for micro-grid with multi-energy demand

Micro-grid can take the full advantages of the distributed renewable resources and improve the reliability of the power supply. The prerequisite is that the planned micro-grid itself should be well designed and its operation safety should be guaranteed. The intermittency characteristics of the Distributed Generators (DGs) could have negative impact on the reliability of the micro-grid. However, if expanding the application of micro-grid is at large-scale, it is necessary to develop the reliability assessment method which can evaluate the multi-energy micro-grid. This paper proposes a reliability assessment method for evaluating the reliability of the micro-grid. To address the complexity of micro-grid running modes and the randomness of the component fault occurrences, the Monte-Carlo method has been applied. Meanwhile, one micro-grid scenario was built. The simulation results have verified the validity of the proposed method.
