AP Computer Science Principles: Designing the hour.ly App in MIT App Inventor

This paper presents an app design that is programmed using MIT App Inventor in the AP Introduction to Computer Science Principles (CSP) course at Masuk High School in Monroe, Connecticut. The purpose of the app named "hour.ly" is to remind the user of small tasks via SMS. This easy-to-use app runs on Android devices with texting capabilities. The texts may be sent to any valid phone number. The user goes through three primary stages when using the app: the "Sign In" screen, the "Home" screen, and the "Add Task" screen. This paper explains the process of creating hour.ly as well as the experiences of the students based on a questionnaire which they filled out.
