This paper presents a high performance AC-DC rectifier for vibration energy harvesting application that has been designed and implemented with TSMC 0.18 μm 1P6M 1.8/3.3 V CMOS process. The proposed fully actively controlled switches and unbalanced-biasing comparators are employed to eliminate reverse leakage current and minimum the drain-source voltage drop of the power MOS transistors under a wide range of input AC voltage amplitudes, thereby improving power conversion efficiency and voltage conversion ratio. The total chip area is 0.755 × 0.755 mm including PADs. The experimental results show that the peak power conversion efficiency is 91% with a 95 kΩ loading resistance. Furthermore, the proposed AC-DC rectifier has a 97% voltage conversion ratio and an output voltage of 2.92 V at a 50 kΩ loading resistance, and a 200Hz input of 3V peak-to-peak AC voltage amplitude.
