Battery charging technology is extremely important in todays' mobile and wireless industry. Battery can affect size, dimension, cost and the usage of many consumer electronic devices. The process of battery charging must be reliable, safe and fast. There have been many different techniques to implement and ensure faster charging and longevity of battery life. There are recent initiatives to design more robust methods and systems. In this paper, a new method is described to improve speed performance of Pulse-Charge Systems (PCS). There are two phases of periodic-charging in pulse-charge systems; one phase is for charging and the other phase is for resting. In normal conditions, the charging phase uses the maximum current, which can adversely affect the reliability of a particular battery if applied constantly without resting period. In this paper, it is shown that small amount of charge can be used in the idle phase to reduce the long charging time without pushing reliability limits of the batteries.
