An Analysis of Tweets Posted During 2018 Western Japan Heavy Rain Disaster

In early July 2018, a heavy rain disaster occurred in western Japan. Due to the disaster, there were more than 200 dead and missing people. To minimize the damage in the event of such a large-scale disaster, it is important to collect and distribute information quickly and accurately. Therefore, the use of Twitter in the event of disasters has gotten much attention worldwide. However, the number of tweets explosively increases in large-scale disasters. Therefore, it is important to analyze the characteristics of tweets that were posted during the past disaster to make effective use of Twitter in the event of a disaster in the future. In this paper, we report the analysis results of tweets posted in the 2018 Western Japan Heavy Rain Disaster.
