Soil erosion from agricultural fi elds has been causing various environmental problems whichcan weaken fl ood control capacity and speed up water quality degradation at the receivingwater bodies. To solve these problems, Ministry of Environment (MOE) in South Korea havemonitored forest land, agricultural fi elds and eroded areas. With these endeavors, severalBest Management Practices, such as silt fences and vegetation, have been tested andsuggested. However, a lot of time and money are needed to monitor and determine sitespecific BMPs. Thus, modeling skills are currently developed and enhanced to identify erosionareas and quantify soil erosion with a view to saving time and money in the collected databasedmonitoring.
