'Air Dried Tissue (ADT): An alternative to TAD and similar technologies'

A new concept has been developed for making tissue that promises significant energy and capital cost savings yet allows manufacture of high bulk, high absorbency tissue. The concept is called Air Dried Tissue (ADT) and it relies upon a combination of relatively conventional technologies that have not previously been used together to produce tissue. The ADT technology can take you away from the costly equipment such as the Yankee dryer, associated steam boiler and the TAD drums. It is also expected that some of the current size and speed limitations associated with these older processes may be increased as ADT can be built to over 10 meters. The speed potential is also there as cast iron tensile strength is no longer a factor. ADT is built from technology previously used in the paper industry on LWC machine and specially modified for use in the tissue industry. That is, all of the pieces of the process are currently available technologies. We can now report that ADT is in and successfully running!
