The paper presents an application oriented AC- and DC-coupled experimental test-bed for photovoltaic (PV) multi-storage hybrid systems integrating a commercial lithium-ion battery, a hydrogen (H_2) storage path and an electrical heating cartridge with hot water storage. The features of the resulting intelligent decentralized power supply unit are described, pointing out the necessity of short- and long-term energy storage and the advantages of an efficiency and lifetime optimizing energy management. Main goals are the maximization of PV-utilization, active suppression of PV-fluctuations and peak shaving and herby the support of further successful dissemination of decentralized PV with grid stabilizing capabilities. The operating characteristics of the multi-storage hybrid system test-bed are explained on the basis of measurement results for a demonstration example. Moreover, a dynamic lithium-ion battery model is presented.
