LTE-BASED SMART SHIPYARD IMPLEMENTATION AND BYOD STRATEGY

Massive advancements in technology have caused existing personal computer users to migrate towards smart phones and tablet devices. This created is the beginning of the mobile device era, with the uptake of smartphones and tables far outstripping that of PC computers. The concept of 'Mobile of Enterprise', which has extended from Smart Working and Smart Office, is emerging as a trend. Business methods such as collectstore·design·analysis·statistics can be partly or completely executed through mobile devices. In some cases, employees purchase new mobile devices with their own expense to improve work efficiency. The BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) phenomenon of allowing employees to utilise individually selected smart devices for business purposes, seems to be intensifying. Following this trend, the need for mobile devices in shipyards has continuously increased to improve working efficiency and productivity regarding the transfer of big data, real-time information sharing in the workplace and collaboration with various domestic and international partners. The present research work introduces detailed implementation processes and development of the LTE-based smart shipyard between different areas, that implies, 1) Communications network and infrastructure, 2) Development of Mobile application service. Moreover, several important issues relating to security and safety should be concerned in the mobile workspace to establish smart shipyard, hence the implementation of a BYOD strategy will also be explained in this paper.
