摘要

Starting in early 2010 Carollo Engineers Inc. was retained by the Weber Basin Water Conservancy District staff to assess the condition of the Weber and Davis Aqueducts. The two aqueducts consist of 26 miles of 21 to 84-inch pipelines constructed in the early 1950's. As part of the investigation, the team utilized various technologies and manned entry to observed five percent of the joints in the Davis and Weber Aqueducts. Upon completion of the detailed investigations, it was determined that 23 percent of the joints observed needed repair or rehabilitation. If 23 percent of the joints in the entire aqueduct need to be rehabilitated, then approximately 1,900 joints are in need of repair. This paper covers the joint condition assessment and resulting innovative approach developed to demonstrate a cost effective joint rehabilitation design. This innovative approach was subsequently installed on 229 joints on the 60-inch reinforced concrete pressure pipe (RCPP) Davis Aqueduct.
