A pushover analysis of an existing hollow cylindrical pedestal of a concrete elevated water storage tank is presented. The analysis is based on the three-stress-invariant cap model incorporated in LS-DYNA. The computed results include stresses related to the failure surface of concrete at first damage and at maximum load and the lateral-load deflection curve. The pushover data is used to approximate the response modification factor in seismic response analysis of the pedestal.
