摘要

Consumer electronic applications and home appliances strive continuously for higher efficiency of applications and smaller form factors.A new family of EiceDRIVERTM half bridge gate driver IC (2EDL compact family) is described,which supports this aspect by an integrated bootstrap function.Such a bootstrap structure is presented for the first time in the market for driver IC with more than 2A output current.Nevertheless,the bootstrap function injects additional losses into the driver IC.This paper discusses various parameters such as switching frequency and DC link voltage,which influence the power dissipation.Furthermore,it gives a simplified model for the IC surface temperature,which is depending of the bootstrap losses.The 2EDL compact gate driver IC family contains two current classes with output currents of 0.5A and 2.3A.This paper will point out the operation behaviour and properties of the bootstrap function in terms of dependency on temperature,IC supply and IC output load.
