A modelling methodology is described for graphical modelling and simulation of fluid power systems. The approach is based on using multi-pole models of functional elements. Principles of composing models of fluid power systems from multi-pole models of their components are presented. A high-level graphical environment CoCoViLa (Compiler Compiler for Visual Languages) is used as a tool for modelling and simulation. Using the CoCoViLa environment enables one to build fast prototypes for modelling and simulation various technical systems. Modelling and simulation of a hydraulic-mechanical load-sensing system is considered as an example. An object-oriented multi-pole model of the load-sensing system is designed and used. Object-oriented multi-pole models, visual programming environment, automatic program synthesis and distributed computing are the original approach in simulation of fluid power systems.
