Operator Generic Fundamentals

All nuclear plant reactor operators are required to pass the NRC Generic Fundamentals Examination. As a result, each of the U.S. nuclear facilities includes training on these topics as part of required initial training for licensed operators. Operator Generic Fundamentals curriculum are maintained at each nuclear facility, which infers there are potentially 65 versions of this course within the industry. INPO is working with GSE Power Systems, Inc. to develop this course using a Reusable Learning Object Methodology to make a standard curriculum available for use by the industry. The course content will be maintained and updated from one source. Instructors across the industry will have the content available to them as an instructor guide and a student guide, with a corresponding PowerPoint presentation. Future plans include development of eLearning, with prescriptive learning as a part of this approach.
