With the increasing electrical loads in some urban centers, a proportion of the original low-voltage distribution network cannot satisfy current load demand, and the suitable installation locations cannot be provided in some cities with the problem of land scarcity. For the purpose of dealing with the above problems, the buried substation is introduced with the characteristics of compact structure, convenient installation, reliable operation, economical energy saving and less land occupation. However, there exists a set of serious problems for burying underground, such as anti-corrosion, waterproof, cooling and ventilation. In this paper, a type of 10 kV full buried box-type substation, which consists of buried box, high-voltage power supply system, low-voltage distribution system, transformer and intelligent control system is designed. Above all, the overall design and the key equipment of the full-buried substation are described. Then, the countermeasures of waterproof, drainage, ventilation and cooling in this design are analyzed. In addition, in case study, compared to the traditional box-type substation on economic benefits, the fully buried substation performs better in cutting down the line loss and reducing the low-voltage feed-out cable.
