摘要

A compact all metallic co-planar waveguide (CPW) fed shorted slot antenna with wide impedance bandwidth is proposed for mmWave 5G mobile terminals. Corner bent with all metallic backed metamaterial reflector is used for minimal physical footprint and unidirectional high broadside gain of 8.5 dBi at 28 GHz. Radiation efficiency is higher than 97.5% which is primarily due to lack of dielectric substrate. All metallic metamaterial wideband reflector is inserted behind the shorted slot radiator with physical offset of 0.11 λ. Wide impedance bandwidth of 26.4% is attained which is mainly due to low value of dielectric constant ($arepsilon_{mathbf{r}} = 1$). Orthogonal pattern diversity is obtained for using mobile phone in portrait as well as landscape mode.
