A Fault Tree Analysis (FTA) method is applied in a new welding robot so as to solve the problem of diagnosing fault blindly, and improve the efficiency of diagnosis fault and predict. Fault Diagnosis Expert System for Welding Robots is discussed. Based on analyzing the trait of fault trees diagnosis and studying the failure symptoms, the fault tree model of mechanic and electric control system on new welding robot is studied. Welding torch gesture and suspension height of welding robots as an example is discussed, and its qualitative & quantitative evaluation is given. Then, according to the probability of quantitative calculation, the probability of event failure is determined. The results show that the method is intuitive and simple, and has good maneuverability and maintainability. It has greater theoretical significance and practical engineering value for new welding robot designing.
