This paper describes a new strategy for controlling the tilt angle and side lobe level of array antennas by using Genetic Algorithm. The fitness function will take into account not only the switching off the elements, but the level amplitude and phase excitation. An example considering a linear array of 40 elements is presented. Results show not only the pattern with main lobes in the desired direction but a very low side lobe level of -32.9 dB.
