Measuring Productivity Efficiency of Asian Airlines: An application of two-step bootstrap DEA model

Asian economies and airlines were subject to the fallout and consequences which followed theevents which began with sub-prime market in the United States. This study utilizes the doublebootstrapalgorithm to derive bias-corrected efficiency scores of 21 public and private airlines ofAsia. The impact of environmental variable was evaluated by bootstrapped truncated regression.The results show that performance of Asian airlines was significantly adversely affected by theeconomic recession. However;;private airlines and low cost carriers performed relatively muchbetter than state-owned and full service airlines.
