Erection of the Deh Cho Bridge

The Deh Cho Bridge is currently under construction near Fort Providence in the Northwest Territories. At a total length of 1045 m, this structure will be the longest bridge in the territory and will provide an important year-round land link between Yellowknife and the rest of Canada. Two asymmetrical launches have been used to erect the truss superstructure on eight steel piers in the river and on two concrete abutments. To facilitate these launches, specialized launch hardware was designed and fabricated based on the results of stage-by-stage analysis that accounted for construction loads, wind loads and the significant range of cambers along the truss.
