摘要

As sustainability becomes an important issue in all aspects of human life, it is vital to look into our cities with massive challenges that question the way we have planned, governed and used our resources so far. Almost 80% of our CO_2 emissions are generated from urban activities, which make cities the biggest contributors to global warming. Currently our cities are facing the challenge in this changing environment and experience difficulties in meeting the required services in balance with available funds. At the present time, there is a lack of reliable solution for such problem. The goal of this study is to examine and model for alternative ways of water and energy supply systems. The emphasis is on localization and efficient use of resources as well as to reduce ecological footprint using a smart grid.
