When is it ok to 'jump the queue'? Most urban municipalities are realizing the increasing need to be more efficient in their use of limited roadway space. As the population increases in urban areas, so does the need to develop more efficient modes of transportation. The costs associated with congestion in fuel and delay is leading motorists to seek alternative modes of transportation, and in turn, municipalities are seeking ways to promote usage of high-occupancy vehicles. Since light rail is a costly investment for municipalities, a more attractive option in improving transit efficiency is Bus Rapid Transit. Bus Rapid Transit, using Transit Signal Priority, along with queue jumper lanes provides for an efficient, effective way to move people.
