To conduct reliable and appropriate gate operation in case of flooding in dam, it is required to accurately predict the inflow up to few hours ahead.In order to respond to such need, the authors developed a real time dam inflow prediction system for Dashidaira Dam, Koyadaira Dam, and Sennindani Dam located on Kurobe River. Using the data of observed rainfall and predicted rainfall, this system performs runoff calculation for the target catchment area (272.2km~2), and predicts the dam inflow for up to six hours ahead at an interval of 10 minutes.
