Fresh and mechanical properties of self-consolidating concrete (SCC) containing metakaolin (MK) are investigated and compared to those using silica fume (SF), slag and silica breccia (SB). Silica breccia is a newly discovered SCM that proved to have some pozzolanic effect when mixed with cement. Eight mixtures with varying partial replacement of MK were investigated for effects on flowability, passing ability, compressive strength/compressive strength development, modulus of elasticity (ME), splitting tensile strength (STS) and flexural strength (FS). The results indicated that increasing the percentage of MK in SCC enhanced the fresh properties of the mixture while demanding a higher percentage of high range water reducer. Also, increasing the percentage of MK improved the compressive strength, FS and ME while decreasing the STS. In addition, using SB in SCC mixtures showed to have the greatest enhancement of the passing ability and slightly increased the FS, ME and STS compared to the control mixture.
