摘要

A 140-megawatt (MW) net electric cogeneration facility is located in South Florida. This facility currently burns primarily bagasse (the fibrous residue remaining from the sugar manufacturing process) and wood in order to generate steam for industrial processes and electricity for sale to the grid. The facility is in the process of applying for a permit to install a natural gas-fired boiler to supplement its steam and electricity production. The boiler will be fired primarily with natural gas, with No. 2 fuel oil used only as a backup fuel. The boiler will have a nominal steam generating capacity of 400,000 pounds per hour (lb/hr) and will be permitted for 8,760 hours per year operation. The addition of the boiler will allow the facility the flexibility to produce steam and electricity year-round based on the most economical fuel or fuel mix, i.e., bagasse, wood, natural gas, or No. 2 fuel oil.
