The AUC/KFW Geothermal Risk Mitigation Facility (GRMF) -A Catalyst for East African Geothermal Development

The East African Rift is wildly believed to possess a tremendous potential for geothermal development. However, despite the potential and the need for substantial growth in electrical generation capacity throughout the region, development activities have been slow to materialise. Anew program - Geothermal Risk Mitigation Facility - is now in place to accelerate development by providing costs share grants for exploration and reservoir confirmation drilling.
